TREASURES
Acrylic on Paper, by Judith Woolley, 2013
As I painted and rubbed each layer of paint I thought about the verses below:
I will give you the treasure of darkness and hidden wealth of secret places, so that you may know that it is I, the Lord, the God of Israel, who calls you by name.
Isaiah 45:3
He made darkness His hiding place, His canopy around Him, darkness of waters, thick clouds of the skies.
Psalm 18:11
But store up for yourselves treasure in heaven, where neither moth and rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Matthew 6:20 (NASB)
Lord, help me to discover the treasures that you have for me; treasures that will remain into eternity. That I would be open to who, what or where they might be, facing the darkness when necessary. Show me how to value the things of heaven and not be too distracted by perishable things.
