This painting is about God's overshadowing as a nurturing and redemptive parent. It is a celebration of joy because of what my Father has done - His overshadowing of me, positioning all other shadows to their rightful place or rendering them powerless.
Those who dwell in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty
Psalm 91:1
Until the day breaks and the shadows flee away (in my thoughts) I will get me to the mountain of Myrrh and the hill of Frankincense (to him who my soul adores).
Song of Solomon 4:4 (Amp. Bible)
In His shade I took great delight and sat down and His fruit was sweet to my taste
Song of Solomon 2:3b (NASB)
Then the cloud formed, *overshadowing them, and the voice came from the cloud "This is my beloved son, listen to Him!"
Mark 9:7 (NASB)
...they carried the sick out into the street... so that at least the shadow of Peter passing by might *overshadow them
Acts 5:15 (NASB)
* to envelop in a haze of brilliancy
Lord, help me to know my own shadows and cause them to flee as I walk in your amazing overshadowing, to sit in your shade delighting in You, that others will know you.
