A number of Central Asia republics are seeing significant church growth and are beginning to develop their own forms of worship. A visitor to Baku attended a rare public gathering of Christians in the city where a grey-haired Azerbaijani was invited to read one of his poems. The congregation’s enthusiastic response acknowledged "his skill for weaving the universal gospel into rich Azerbaijani cloth".
This man is not alone in Azerbaijan. Both tracks on this CD were recorded in Azerbaijan. While for security reasons we cannot identify the artists or the producer, we can tell you that a number of albums have been recorded and are being distributed around the country. A recent email from the producer reports on a "… music production which we were involved in: approximately 14 songs, real Azerbaijani style: piano, violin, balaban, bass guitar, acoustic guitar."
This same producer is working on music and spoken materials in both Azerbaijani and other languages which the Azerbaijani Christians can use to share the gospel with their neighbours.
